Comment: ARKTOS is Cleveland / Akron's bear club. Formed in 1989, ARKTOS has been a part of Northeastern Ohio's gay community for more than 14 years. The Club ARKTOS is a group of gay men who have a mutual interest in bear like men, who are themselves bear-like men, and / or who possess what is commonly called bear attitude: an acceptance and pride in being gay, the understanding of the tenuousness of life and the desire to live it fully and richly, and the willingness to contribute to the Club and one’s communities. The purposes of the Club are to provide a social group for the members, to promote friendships among the members, and to serve others through contribution, support, and education. The ARKTOS brothers work hard to support the gay community through their events held both locally - in Cleveland, Akron and Canton - as well as in other nearby cities such as Toledo, Columbus, Toronto, Pittsburgh, Cincinnati and Rochester.
