Out Destination: Vancouver, British Columbia
This edition of Out Destinations takes me to the Pacific Northwest and to a city in Canada known for great people, endless beauty and a thriving LGBT community. Vancouver, British Columbia is a destination which I’ve heard about for many years, however, never had the opportunity to visit. The best way to arrive to Vancouver is either flying direct or jump on a flight to Seattle and then board an Amtrak train for a scenic 4-hour journey along the coast.

The Amazon Trail: Happy Dance
Okay, so there are a few who stare mutely at my Bo Obama button, mouths open, like they still can’t believe they lost to us commie hippie queer vile and disgusting President Obama-supporters, but that’s what watching FOX TV can do to people. The station is a teleprompter for viewers, scrolling non-stop scripts detailing what to think, say and do in the voting booths.
Op-Ed: Forward, or Backward: The Choice for President is Clear
In just days, this seemingly endless election will be over. In swing state Florida, we can’t turn on the TV, listen to the radio, or drive our roads without being inundated with campaign propaganda. Nevertheless, barring any hanging chad disasters, we will know the name of our next president Tuesday night or early Wednesday morning.
This election, it's about taxes and jobs for LGBT community
Taxes. Could you imagine a Jew or Catholic voting for a candidate who was opposed to Catholics marrying jews, or interracial marriage? Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney says marriage is for one man and one women, not you, and goes on to say that if elected, he will use his office to keep the Defense of Marriage Act in force, denying you more than 1,000 basic rights, including tax rights. Taxes are an LGBT issue. Romney will deny you your tax rights, and Obama will fight to get you the same tax relief heterosexual married couples already have.
Give Thanks
Why is it when people win an Oscar or an Emmy or a Grammy that they can't come right out and thank people? It's always, "I'd like to thank the writers....," or, "I want to thank my partner...." It should be, "Thank you to my boyfriend for putting up with me for the last nine years while I was writing this picture." Just thank the people you need to thank. Don't tell us who you would like to thank or want to thank. Thank them, you idiots.

The backstory LGBT legacy of Sen. Arlen Specter
Mark Segal: Let me tell you about how I met Arlen Specter.
Op-Ed: It's the Supreme Court, Stupid!
No community has more at stake in this presidential election than the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) community. In Barack Obama, we have a Democratic candidate who has embraced full equality for LGBT people. We have a Republican candidate in Mitt Romney who is against the Employment Non-Discrimination Act (ENDA), was against ending Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell (DADT), and is against marriage equality or civil unions for gay couples.

Specter's courageous stand
From Malcolm Lazin: In 1977, having successfully headed federal grand jury investigations into public corruption, I ran as a Republican for Philadelphia district attorney. Arlen Specter, who had lost his bid for reelection as district attorney four years earlier despite having distinguished himself as a prosecutor, served as honorary chairman of my campaign, and we met once a week. While I ended up losing to a then-unknown Democrat named Edward Rendell, I won in that I learned from Specter and became his friend.
