Star of RuPaul's Drag Race to Come to Erie
ERIE - April 1, 2024- Zone Dance Club is thrilled to announce Lola LeCroix presents VAIN is coming to Erie! This show, hosted by Lola LeCroix, who is originally from Erie, marks a significant milestone for The Zone, reaffirming their commitment to bring various forms of entertainment to the Erie Queer community. Lola will be bringing none other than Vanessa "Vanjie" Mateo for a one-night only stop in Erie on Saturday April 20th. They will be joined by local favorites Rebecca Mae and Miss Erie 2023 Shea D'Heaux as well as Shari Turner from Cleveland.

Packed and Lively Halloween Events from the Zone Dance Club
The Zone Dance enjoyed a lively Halloween celebration between October 27th, October 28th, and Halloween. The three-night celebration started on a Friday with a Diva's Performance hosted by Misty Michaels Kall, featuring the divas of Erie. Next came Saturday evening, featuring a dress to impress with a costume party contest. Prizes included $50, $75, and $100 to the three best customers registered. Each night saw a significant spike in revenue, with bustling crowds ready to take on the night. Lastly came the second costume content held on Halloween night, featuring a viewing of the new season of The Boulet Brothers Dragula hosted by Miss Erie herself, Shea D'Heaux.

Erie's Zone Dance Club: A Milestone - 25 Years of Queer Community
Erie's Zone Dance Club, a symbol of queer community and celebration, proudly marks its 25th year. This venue's enduring journey began in November 1998 as new owner Bob Regan transformed the Embers into The Zone, which continued to serve Erie's LGBTQ+ community. After six years of resounding success, The Zone moved to its present location at 133 West 18th Street, formerly "The Village," another cherished gay bar. The club is a constant presence, open 365 days a year, with only brief interruptions during COVID-19 and the unforgettable 2017 Snowmageddon snowstorm.

A New Miss Erie Is Crowned!
We have a winner! This past August, Former Miss Erie, Debbie, handed down the crown to her successor. The 2023 iteration of the drag pageant brought six contenders to the stage. This year, Debbie, Katrina Island Twerk, Cherry Falwell, Snarebear, Shea D'Heaux and Alysin Wonderland were featured. All showcased their unique drag style to an energetic and supportive packed audience. Notable runways included Katrina's elaborate caution tape dress with working sirens. She left the crowd gagging as she dragged around two body bags as her accessories. Shea D Heaux showcased a The Wiz-inspired traffic cone scarecrow. Cherry Fallwell re-worked deconstructed rugs for a dress.
Pink Party Benefit Weekend on the Horizon
The great Pink Party is almost back! Don't miss out on the opportunity to attend Michelle Michael's annual Pink Party benefit weekend. This event will take place on the evenings of October 6th - the 8th. Basket auctions and a bake sale will be included. A drag show with no cover will be featured on Sunday evening at 9:30.

Debbie Does Nationals Fundraiser
The current reigning Miss Erie, Debbie, is set to compete in the National Miss Comedy Queen pageant. This March, the pageant will feature 20 other drag artists competing for the title in Orlando, Florida. To help support her trip, a fundraising benefit will be held at The Zone, 133 W 18th St, Erie, PA. The event will be hosted by Debbie's drag mother, Vivian Vendetta Sinclaire, on Friday, February 24th.

There will be a basket raffle and bake sale on both days and a Pink Party Benefit Show on Sunday, October 9 at 9:30 PM. After the show on Sunday, we will pull the tickets for the basket. You need not be present to win. We will have other party favors and some shots to help raise money for the Saturday night Pink Party. The Pink Party Benefit Show on Sunday, October 9, will replace what would have been the usual monthly Face show for October.

And we have a winner! 2022 Miss Erie Pageant was held on August 19th and crowned native Erie drag performer, Debbie. The 2022 Miss Erie Pageant welcomed contestants, Debbie, Snarebear, Tammy Joe Hammertoe, and Alysin Wonderland, and were judged by the distinguished panel of talent, Michelle Michaels, Molli Jane Norman, Moe Ferrara, Patrick Hiller and Justin Kelso. Sponsors for the event included Northwest PA Pride Alliance, Greater Erie Alliance for Equality (GEAE) and of course, The Zone Dance Club.

Pier Kids Screening and Panel Discussion on December 9
A very moving and powerful discussion left a group of local people with an enhanced appreciation for themselves and their life journeys. The POV Season 34 feature film Pier Kids was shown at The Zone Dance Club on December 9, 2021, exploring the lives of homeless queer and trans youth of color on Christopher Street Pier in New York City. Director Elegance Bratton and Producer Chester Algernal Gordon use the film as a vehicle to transport viewers to an historic area where an underground community of homeless Black youth navigate the streets to find safety and stability.

NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness of Erie County) is partnering with The Zone to host a Peer-To-Peer Support Program on Wednesdays at The Zone, 133 W 18th St, Erie PA November 17 through January 5 from 9-aa AM. We are offering our signature Peer-to-Peer program: NAMI Peer-to-Peer is a free, eight-session educational program for adults with mental health conditions who are looking to better understand themselves and their recovery. Michelle Michaels is donating the money this year in the memory of a friend who lost her battle this year. We love and miss your big heart, Tiffani Staley. The two-night event raised $3270.

Famous drag queen Tatianna be appearing at The Zone Dance Club,133 W 18th St, Erie PA, on October 23rd, 2021! Tatianna appeared on RuPaul’s Drag Race season 2, and All Stars 2, the latter which she received runaway success. The event will be hosted by Rebecca Mae, along with special guests such as Luna Skye and Indie Skies. House cast queens such as Misty Michaels Kall, Priscilla Godzilla, Shea D’Heaux, and Pissi Gabune will also be performing. The 4:30 PM to 7 PM event prohibits smoking. Doors open at 4 PM. The second showing (9PM to 11:30PM) will allow smoking. A meet and greet will follow immediately after each event. Doors will open to the general public at 12 am. $5 cover for those who do not come to either show.

The 2021 Miss Erie pageant was filled to the brim with local talent and a dazzling showcase. On September 10, patrons, and queens near and far flocked to the Zone Dance Club, 133 W 18th St, Erie PA, for the 20th annual Miss Erie pageant. Five queens competed for the coveted title and succeed the glamorous Rebecca Mae. This year’s theme was "Leather, Feathers, and Lace". The panel of judges included Michelle Michaels at the head of the table, renowned hairstylist Thom Haraczy, Erie Playhouse staple Moe Ferrera, graphics designer Patrick Hiller, and Ashley Lauria.

Erie Native Superstar Returns to The Zone
On Friday, June 4th, the Zone Dance Club got a visitor from Glamatron 5000, and her name is Alaska. Erie native, and RuPaul's Drag Race All Stars 2 winner, Alaska Thunderfuck 5000, hosted a benefit show alongside Rebecca Mae for Erie's Zone Dance Club. Two separate shows were held during the evening. Each sold out within a day of the event's listing.
FACE Drag Show Returns to 3rd Sundays at The Zone
FACE Shows will return to The Zone Dance Club, 133 W 18th St, Erie PA, starting Sunday July 18 with a 10 PM showtime. FACE Show will be every third Sunday of the month, as it was before. First month back will be all of your local favorites. However, moving forward, FACE shows will have three or four local girls, a new out of town girl and a couple of open mic night performers that could be singers, dancers, comedians. They will compete and the audience will pick the winner. That night's winner moves on to a final against other winners that will be held months down the road

Erie's number one gay bar is getting back into the groove, one sequin at a time. Amidst the seemingly tail end of an unprecedented pandemic, the Zone is bringing the queens out of quarantine, with two new events! Rebecca Mae is now hosting weekly shows called Fierce Friday's. Queens near and far will have the opportunity showcase a sickening performance and entertain the crowds. Showtimes will start every Friday at 10 PM. No cover will be required.

The Zone, 133 W 18th St, Erie PA, is now hosting trivia nights every Thursday. Door opens at 8. Game starts at 9. The Zone is back to their regular hours of 8 PM to 2 AM. Masks are required when not sitting at your table. Social distancing is still required and dancing is not allowed due to COVID safety concerns. The Zone Hour Changes as of April 4
Beginning Sunday, April 4, The Zone Dance Club will be changing their hours back to 8 PM-2 AM, except Fridays, which will be 7 PM-2 AM during Drag Race viewing parties. There will be no more food restrictions. All other safety measures remain in place (distancing, masks, no dancing, etc.) The light is at the end of the tunnel! Just hold on a little bit longer, and we’ll be back full-force! (And our first party is going to be *MASSIVE*!)

The Zone Dance Club is wading through lockdown restrictions with the help of RuPaul's Drag Race. Erie's flagship gay bar is open for business again. After a string of openings and closings due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the bar is experiencing a promising new year. Full Fury GLOW - A Benefit for Sean at Zone Dance Club Nov 15-17
Sean, the doorman for The Zone Dance Club, 133 W 18th St, Erie PA,, has been diagnosed with Stage 4 Colon Cancer and currently going through the second round of chemotherapy. Back in May, he had major surgery to attempt to remove the cancer. He has been out of work (aside from here) since April. So naturally we're throwing him a benefit November 15-17 to help offset the medical and related costs.

StringsforaCURE is an Erie, PA based 501(c)(3) non-profit charitable organization dedicated to providing education, comfort, financial assistance and emotional support directly to breast cancer patients. The Zone, 133 W 18th St, Erie PA will be holding RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 11 viewing parties every Thursday starting 2/28 hosted by Rebecca Mae. Doors open at 8 PM, and the show airs at 9 PM. Michelle Michaels FACE Drag Show will now start at 9 PM. The March show will be March 24, due to St. Patrick's Day, and April 28, due to Easter and then move back to the third Sunday of the month in May. Additionally, The Zone will be hosting NW PA Pride Alliance's Happy Hour on Wednesday, February 27 from 7 to 9 PM.

Breast Cancer Awareness Weekend Raises over $4,000
The 13th Annual Breast Cancer Awareness Weekend was held at The Zone Dance Club, 133 W 18th St, Erie PA, October 12th-14th. What started as Michelle Micheals' idea to bring together the local drag community to raise money for a cause near and dear to her heart has since grown into an entire weekend of raising funds. Michelle Micheals mother Gracie is a 18 year survivor of stage 4 breast cancer has always been her biggest supporter and is the inspiration for the weekend. Over the years of doing this event it has grown thanks to the overwhelming support of Erie LGBT+ community, the dance community many other supporters of the cause.

Zone Breast Cancer Awareness Weekend raises $3,892
The 12th Annual Breast Cancer Weekend was held October 13-15 at the Zone Dance Club, 133 W 18th St, Erie PA The event was organized by Michelle Michaels. The beneficiary was again the StringsforaCURE charity. The event directly raised total over weekend $2,112.00, grant money $1,500 and check donations of $280.00 for a grand total of $3,802.00. There was a record number of 32 baskets donated for a Chinese auction. Basket donors included Chris Temple, Grace Watson, Sandy Hodas, Brenda Dugan, Elaine Crandall, Denise Kubiak, Brenda Crolli, Denise Kubiak, Dale Allgeier, Robert Eckendorf, Anelle Dugan, Jessica DeVita, Nancy Krumpe, Erie Gay News, Matthew Blake Steger, Glenn David Meyer, Sean Weary, NW PA Pride Alliance, Smiths family, Rose Palombi, and Schafer family. World AIDS Day event at The Zone Dance Club
On Thursday, December 1, 2016, Erie Awareness Outreach organized a World AIDS Day event at The Zone Dance Club, 133 W 18th St, Erie PA. The event included performances by Michelle Michaels, Misty Michaels Kall, Jill Jamison, Twerkzilla, and Shun. Special guest DJ was BlackCat from Toronto. There was also a twerking competition. In addition, Erie County Department of Health provided free, rapid HIV and syphilis testing, and Community Health Net also had testing information.

A day or two after the candlelight vigil for the Pulse Orlando Nightclub shooting that was held at the Zone Dance Club, someone left flowers at the door. Said bartender Glenn: These beautiful flowers and sign were left at the front door when I went to go in to paint today. THANK YOU ERIE for the ongoing support of our local LGBT community. FACE Show Marriage Proposal
On Sunday, August 16, 2015, the last performance at Michelle Michaels' FACE show at The Zone Dance Club, 133 W 18th St, Erie PA, was the reigning Miss Erie, Valerie Valentino, AKA Derek. Derek's boyfriend, Todd (AKA Victoria London) had planned a surprise marriage proposal with the cooperation of Michelle Michaels and other performers. After accepting, Derek's mom, who was in attendance, had requested a song for the newly engaged couple to dance to, and soon almost everyone in the bar was on the dance floor as well. Todd and Derek both reside in Ohio, which was one of the states involved in the US Supreme Court marriage equality decision on June 26 of this year. Wishing the couple much happiness!

9th Annual Breast Cancer Awareness Weekend at the Zone
The 9th Annual Breast Cancer Awareness Weekend was held October 10-12, 2014 at the Zone Dance Club, 133 W 18th St, Erie PA. The event included a bake sale, a ribbon sale, a Pink Party on Saturday and a special Pink FACE Breast Cancer Weekend drag show on Sunday. Michelle Michaels organizes the annual benefit, and announced that this year's event had raised $2,047 for StringsforaCURE.

Michelle Michaels Breast Cancer Awareness Weekend breaks record
The 6th annual Breast Cancer Awareness weekend held at the Zone Dance Club, 133 W 18th St, Erie PA October 5 -7 set an all time record of about $3,400, which is almost twice last year's total. Donors included David and Mama Reese, Jared, Grace Watson, Michelle Michaels, Annelle (Brenda's mom), Sherry Edkin, Lorie's Wildwood Restaurant, Shawn Coverdale, Brenda Dugan, NWPA Pride Alliance, Erie Gay News, Furhman's, Robert Eckendorf, Gene Seigworth, Mom Crandall (Elaine), Watson Family, Derek McCance/ Celine DaShawn, Josh and Marty, respectively), Melissa Irwin, Drenched Fur, Season Crannell, Karen from Cookie Lee, Rich Hayford, and Kevin Schultz. Volunteers included TJ Knight, Wendy, Rich, Chris Dye and Josh Atkinson, Josh Maleno and Timmy Crandall. Leukemia/Lymphoma Benefit at the Zone
from Michelle Michaels: On Wednesday, May 9 at the Zone Dance Club, 133 W 18th St, Erie PA, we helped raise money for the fight against leukemia and lymphoma and Kristen Bailey was behind it. We raised over $1,700 and within 10 weeks Kristen raised 22,000 and became Woman of the Year. Thanks go out to Alaska Thunderfuck, Michelle Michaels, Celine Dashawn, Misty Kall, Velvet Lace, Buffy Lynn Hayes, and the Erie crowd for always coming out to help me and help others! Bear Bar Night at the Zone Dance Club
On the Friday night of this year's first winter storm (January 13, 2012), The Zone Dance Club, 133 W 18th St, Erie PA hosted a Bear Bar Night where dozens of bears, cubs and their friends defied the snow to enjoy fun times with the local community and staff at the bar. The Drenched Fur 8 Committee gave away a Splash Lagoon Private Event Pass for Saturday March 31st during this year's run. Congrats to Jared on being the proud recipient! The guys that put on Drenched Fur are grateful for everyone that came out to join us for bringing together Erie's GLBTQA community and thanks all the individuals that helped make January's Bear Bar Night a success. Our next Bear Bar Night will be Friday, February 17!

HIV/AIDS Benefit raises $1,000 for Ryan White Program at Community Health Net of Erie
On Friday, March 4, 2011, The Erie Divas of the Zone, the Imperial Court of Buffalo (ICOB) and friends from Jamestown put on an HIV/AIDS benefit for the Ryan White program at Community Health Net of Erie. Performers included Angelica Redd, Michelle Michaels, Celine Dashawn, Miss Erie 2010 Buffy Lynn Hayes, Empress XX Jade Jett of the ICOB, Mr Manny, Dana and Ciara Chaleen from Jamestown. Volunteers helping with the ticket raffle and ribbon sales included Misty Kal and Jimbo. Gene was a major help to all aspects of the event. Donors for the ticket raffle included Drew Riggs, Celine, Tommie and Brenda, Michelle Michaels, Tanglez Hair and Nail Studio, Emily Trejchel, and the door prize was a digital camera donated by Jade Jett. The Zone Dance Club also made a donation, bringing the amount raised to $1,000, which was twice the original goal. There was also a great turnout for the onsite HIV testing performed by Community Health Net. This was part of a weekend of fundraising by drag performers for HIV/AIDS taking place in Erie and Jamestown.

FACE Show: Toys for Tots Benefit
On Sunday, December 19, 2010, Zone Night Club, 133 W 18th St, Erie PA devoted their monthly FACE Drag Show to benefiting Toys for Tots. $365 and about 20 toys were collected. Fundraising efforts included performers and support staff auctioning Barbie Dolls to look themselves. Performers included show organizer Michelle Michaels, Buffy Lynn Hayes, Mistress Vanitay, Celine Dashawn, Jill Jamison, Diva D'Vyne, Angelica Redd, and Siren, Lady of the Lake. In addition, stage manager Season auctioned a Barbie doll that included her signature clipboard with spikes and a riding crop. Erie Gay News co-editor Michael Mahler took photos.

November FACE show at Zone and other activities benefit Food Bank
The monthly Michelle Michaels' FACE drag show at the Zone Dance Club, 133 W 18th St, Erie PA, raised money and food for the Second Harvest Food Bank of NW PA. Between the drag show and other activities throughout November, $527 was raised to help provide food for the less fortunate. Drag performers included Jill Jamison, Trista Towers, Celine Dashawn, Mistress Vanitay, Glow Sorceror Buddy Dobson, and Michelle Michaels.

The 2010 Pink Weekend was phenomenally succesful and raised $1500 for Breast Cancer Awareness. Mark Pacheco Benefit at the Zone
On Sunday, March 28, 2010, friends and family of the late Mark Pacheco gathered at the Zone Dance Club to celebrate his life, Mark died as the result of injuries received during an assault. Over $400 was raised to help with funeral expenses. Mark's sister spoke and expressed her gratitude to the performers and attendees.

Zone food drive at December Michelle Michaels FACE
December 18 is "Angels and Divas" — the Zone Diva Christmas Show. Erie’s own drag queens are doing something special this year....taking Barbie dolls and making them their own....turning them into different drag performers. During the show, we will sell/ auction them off and use the money to buy toys for the "Toys for Tots." Also, you can bring in toys to the Zone—starting the first week in December—if you would like or buy one of the drag-Barbies.

Giving Zone...
On the 10th & 11th of October, the Zone Dance Club held a fundraiser to benefit the fight for a breast cancer cure. A total of $846 was raised and made this years event a great success! The Pink Cotton Candy Carnival was a Saturday night of dancing and fun as customers at the Zone played carnival games, ate pink cotton candy, and tried their luck at winning one of 15 great prize filled gift baskets donated by the many great businesses and friends of the Zone! On Sunday evening, Michelle Michaels hosted a special edition of her Sunday drag series Face...Tears of a Clown with all the girls who performed donating their tips to help out such a great cause. The Zone would like to give a special Thank You to all the business and individuals who made this weekend a great success! Thank You for donating your time, talents, gifts, and baked goods and helping to make this a better community!

The Zone and Drenched Fur raised money for the bear exhibit at the Erie ZooT. he money was raised at the UnderBear Party at the Zone on April 3 during the Drenched Fur 5 weekend. It was a quickie ten minute fundraiser and $119 will go to the bear exhibit at the Erie Zoo.
