Greg Rabb running for re-election as Jamestown City Council Member at Large

Greg was first elected as an openly gay candidate for Jamestown City Council in 2007. On January 1, 2008 he was chosen by his colleagues to be the President of that body. Now after five two year terms he is running again for re-election as the only openly gay elected official in the eight counties of WNY.

Greg, now 65, thought of retiring but after last year’s election and the attempts by the current White House to roll back some of the few protections for transgender people he decided his voice was needed more than ever. Also, working with Mayor Teresi and his council colleagues he realized there were many unfinished projects for the future of Jamestown that needed more work and now was not the time to stop.

In addition to his city council work, Greg is Professor of Political Science and Coordinator of Global Education at Jamestown Community College and Adjunct Professor of Political Science at Buffalo State College. In 2011 he was award the SUNY Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in Teaching. This past summer he received a grant from the Palestinian American Research Center to study in Palestine and a Global Fellowship to continue this research at the University of Illinois. He holds a JD from SUNY Buffalo, a Master’s Degree in Urban Planning from the University of Illinois, and a BA in Political Science from Canisius College.
