GEAE Progress for Equality

from Greater Erie Alliance for Equality

On Sunday, June 11, 2017, Greater Erie Alliance for Equality held a Progress Towards Equality Rally on the steps of the Erie County Courthouse, 140 W 6th St, Erie PA. About 50-60 people attended, and there was local TV coverage. This was organized in conjuction with similar events in Washington DC and across the US.

The event featured a presention of a timeline on local, state and national progress on LGBT Equality starting with the Stonewall riot of June 29, 1969. There was also a large banner with the slogan "This is what Equality looks like" that people could write their name, a message, or leave a colorful handprint. This banner will be in display with opportunities for other people to add their mark at future events including Pride Fest on June 24th in Perry Square.
