AMPA partners with Hilton for new military spouse scholarship

WASHINGTON - May 15, 2017 - Today, the American Military Partner Association (AMPA), the nation's largest non-profit organization of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) military spouses and their families, announced the launch of the AMPA Military Spouse Scholarship - a new program aimed to help military spouses pursue their higher education goals. AMPA also announced that Hilton will be the presenting sponsor of the new military spouse scholarship this year.

"We're absolutely thrilled to announce our newest program designed to help military spouses achieve their dreams through higher education," said AMPA President Ashley Broadway-Mack. "At AMPA, we are committed to education, advocacy, and support for our modern military spouses and their families. This new scholarship program is a key tool in our mission to support those who are often overlooked and under appreciated. We are especially proud to welcome Hilton as this year's presenting sponsor of the scholarship."

For the 2017 AMPA Military Spouse Scholarship, up to 5 military spouses will be selected by an impartial selection committee for a scholarship ranging between $1,000 to $2,500 each. Winners will be selected based on their commitment to community service, and all military spouses with valid military identification who are married to an active duty, reserve, guard, retired, medically retired, or fallen service member of the U.S. Armed Forces are eligible to apply. Applicants must be enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate degree program from an accredited college or university. Applications are currently being accepted until June 15, 2017. Military spouses can find out more and apply at www.MilitaryPartners.org/Scholarship

The new scholarship program was first announced this past Saturday night at the 4th Annual AMPA National Gala, presented by USAA and Comcast NBCUniversal. Attended by hundreds of LGBT service members, military spouses, veterans, and allies from across the country and around the world, the annual event is the biggest LGBT military event of the year and honors modern military families for their service and sacrifice to our nation.

The American Military Partner Association (AMPA) is the nation's largest non-profit organization of LGBT military spouses, their families, and allies. With more than 50,000 members and supporters, AMPA is committed to education, advocacy, and support for our "modern military families."
