Erie Art Museum Gallery Night scheduled for March 10, 2017

March 2, 2017, Erie, PA-Lots of fresh art, and an opportunity to meet dozens of artists at locations all around town, await the public at the Erie Art Museum's next Gallery Night-Friday, March 10 from 7 until 10 p.m. A city-wide gallery crawl through 12 local, independent art galleries and the Museum, which offers five new exhibitions, Gallery Night venues open their doors after-hours for visitors to get up close and personal with art and artists in a unique way. Each gallery offers a different experience, from artist meet & greets to wine samplings to live music, and visual art, featuring local, regional, and national artists. Admission is free to the public at all sites.

The Erie Art Museum is open from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. with the following exhibits: First Class, an exhibit featuring Museum instructors and their students; Kids As Curators 2017, three middle schools display their take on material culture; Earth Stories, 24 environmental-themed art quilts; Sergei Isupov: Hidden Messages, breath-taking porcelain sculptures; Erie Decoys: Folk Art Sculpture; Tin Plated Dreams: Sculptures by William Brady, Jr., an exhibit of kinetic tin sculptures; and Photographs by Gary Cardot, a photographic exploration of America's diverse cultures. There will be demos and hands-on art-making activities led by Museum instructors along with refreshments.

• Allen Stoneware • 2602 West 8th Street
Featuring artist and instructor Mark Nowak's latest pottery work. Artist meet and greet and refreshments.

• Artlore Studio • 3402 West Lake Road
Presenting The World of Mosaics, featuring the newest works by multimedia artist and gallery owner Lena Logvina. Each piece is masterfully designed using glass, copper, wood, paint and other materials that define Logvina's original style. Live music by solojazz guitarist Frank Singer.

• Brew Ha Ha Espresso Bar & Eatery • 2612 West 8th Street
Featuring Common, an exhibit of acrylic paintings by Brew Ha Ha's own barista and artist Amelia J. Carey. The exhibit explores the face of human experience and includes captivating acrylic figures. Artist meet and greet, hors d'oeuvres and drinks.

• CIVITAS Erie (Masonic Temple) • 32 West 8th Street, Suite 605
Charles Buki's Erie plan urges investment in Erie's "existing assets" and prioritization of pedestrians and bicyclists over cars and trucks. In this STITCH exhibit, sketches, a film-short and a model of the Viaduct demonstrate this bridge's crucial role in the past, present and future of Erie.

• Coffee in the Park • 4007 Main Street
Exhibiting The Beauty of Local that features local artists work. Pieces include mixed media artist Marcia Hatton, Scott Peterson's photography printed on metals, Missy Weismiller's all natural body products, and hand knit designs by Mary Sargent. Artist meet and greet and light refreshments.

• D'Hopkins Denniston Gallery • 5 West 10th Street
Featuring talented artists from the Erie region; including abstract and landscape works, glass sculpture, photography, gifts, jewelry and more. Music and refreshments.

• Glass Growers Gallery • 10 East 5th Street
Presenting Finding Neverland, Erie-native Nathan Sulecki's thought provoking study on mortality. His photography features infinite variety of shoreline geography and low land beauty as a broad playground for his fascination with the macabre. Artist conversation and refreshments.

• John M. Lilley Library Gallery at Penn State Behrend • 4951 Behrend College Drive
A retrospective exhibition showing the development of the work of artist and benefactor Mrs. Patricia S. Yahn. Refreshments and desserts.

• eyewash projects • The Renaissance Center • 1001 State Street, Lobby
Exhibiting Post-Romance: Artists Valentines, representing over 50 artists from Erie, Boston, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh and NYC. This is a contemporary take on the traditional valentine that became a part of mainstream American culture in the 1940's. Curated by Larry Walczak. Refreshments served.

• The Visual Snack Shop • The Renaissance Center • 1001 State Street, Suite 515
The Visual Snack Shop is a portable kiosk pop-up gallery created by Higherglyphics LLC and outfitted with original art and merchandise. This project launches the collaboration between Todd Scalise and Penn State Behrend Arts Administration senior Laura Flockerzi. Light refreshments served.

• Satya Yoga Center • 10 East 5th Street, 2nd floor
The patterns, designs, and structures visible throughout nature contain geometrical similarities that reveal the Satya (truth) and nature of form, giving us a blueprint for the interconnected union of which we are all a part. Featuring local artists and their journeys through the collective consciousness with Sacred Geometry and the Art of Satya. Artist meet and greet. Wine and light refreshments.

• Schuster Gallery at Gannon University • 700 Peach Street, 1st floor
Presenting earth-art connection, an exhibit of work inspired by the earth. Artist meet and greet with Barb Yerace, David Seitzinger, Brian Pardini, Lee Steadman, Dan Byler, MC Gensheimer, Jess Simmons, Randy Harris, and more. Refreshments served.

About the Erie Art Museum

The Erie Art Museum anchors downtown Erie's cultural and economic revitalization, occupying a group of restored mid-19th century commercial buildings and a modern, 'Green,' 10,500 square foot expansion.  The newly expanded Museum marks the first LEED-certified building in the region, soon to be complete with a planted rooftop.
