Gallery Night scheduled for May 20, 2016

April 28, 2016, Erie, PAThe Erie Art Museum is organizing the next Gallery Night, scheduled for Friday, May 20 from 7 until 10 p.m. A city-wide art gallery crawl through local, independent galleries and the Museum, participating Gallery Night venues will open their doors after-hours for visitors to get up close and personal with art and artists in a unique way. Each gallery offers a different experience, from artist meet & greets to wine samplings to live music, and visual art, featuring local, regional, and national artists. Admission is free to the public.

The Erie Art Museum will feature the following exhibits: The 93rd Annual Spring Show, Nocturnal Emissions by Alison Stinely, Dark Garden: An Installation by Linda Huey, Art of the Comic Book. There will be an artist talk by Alison Stinely at 7:30 p.m. and Studio Art Class demonstrations throughout the evening.

Erie Arts & Culture will be spearheading a live social media event during the May 20th Gallery Night.  Join in the event by hash tagging #vibranterie as you visit participating galleries. Each time you tweet, post, or check in using #vibranterie on Twitter or Facebook you will receive one entry to win a Downtown Sampler Pass and other prize items, drawn at the end of the evening.

  1. Artlore Studio, 3402 West Lake Road

Presenting the unique and varied works of the Presque Isle Artists Association. Prints as well as original work will be offered for sale in many styles and mediums, including photography.

  1. Bayfront Gallery, 17 East Dobbins Landing

Celebrating its 21st season in the historic McAllister building on East Dobbins Landing, the gallery features 30 regional artists in paintings, pottery and photography.  Also featuring "Artiques," vintage rock posters and art.  Artist meet and greet with refreshments.

  1. D'Hopkins Denniston Gallery, 5 West 10th Street

Now in its fourth year, the gallery introduces painter Jack Hayes alongside the other works on display. Jack's works are in both private & public collections and have been exhibited in various venues across the United States. Meet the artist.

Presenting Heather Miller Kanazawa, Origins of Realities.  Recent paintings explore the idea that one has to be able to capture reality before one can develop an abstraction to that reality. Her work demonstrates a new way of thinking. Refreshments and artist meet and greet.

  1. Kada Gallery, 2632 West 8th Street

Warm Welcome is a preview of our upcoming G.C. Myers fall show. His work has been featured in Art Collector Magazine and at the Fenimore Cooper Museum.  This is a selection of exemplary pieces that introduces his work for this highly anticipated event scheduled to open this fall.

  1. Lighthouse Jewelers, 2230 West 8th Street

Presenting Janine Lay-Utegg and Nancy Zatkiewicz. Lay-Utegg's work contrasts light and darkness to create an atmospheric mood. She paints on paper, canvas, and even stone. Zatkiewicz is a local mosaic artist, working in stained glass, mirrored glass, mother-of-pearl beaded accents and pewter beading. Refreshments and pizza by Virgil's Plate.

  1. Mod Apothecary, 2564 W. 8th Street

Featuring the original photography by Katie Wnukoski and live music by Jess Royer. Custom aromatic creations and natural perfumes made-on-demand. Bring your own libations to sip as you enjoy art, music and aromatic bliss.

  1. Oregon Antiques, 3436 West Lake Road

Featuring authentic antique typewriter key jewelry and hand-poured soy candles by Elia Nolan. Also showcasing Sole' Arts Jewelry by Diane DiRaimo; original, vintage Steam Punk jewelry along with New York City traffic light jewelry; Gina Foll Jewelry, designed with authentic European glass, crystal, freshwater pearls and gemstones and D'Family Jewels, featuring Lake Erie beach glass. Meet the artists and register to win a $50 gift certificate.

  1. PACA, 1505 State Street, 2nd Floor

Presenting the works of Fairview High School students. This show is the culmination of the work from the Advanced Photo Class and features photography and multi-media videos. Students work through the semester to build a body of work that exemplifies their style.

  1. Radius CoWork Gallery, 1001 State Street 9th Floor

Highlighting local artist Roman Glass, owner of No Dress Code Studios. The show features the screens Glass uses to create his textile works of art, along with the finished project. Several live models wearing his t­-shirt designs highlight the distinctive nature of the work. Glass will also sell his designs and demonstrate his mobile printing machine. Refreshments served.

  1. Ralph Miller Jewelers, 28 West 8th Street

Featuring The Colors of Spring, new original creations by RMJ Jewelry Artists: Carrie Magee, Liza Magee, Sally Griffin, Janice & Daniel Niebauer; plus works from oil painter Diane Wenzel Pierce and watercolors by Sally Griffin.  Explore the Wall of Gems, showcasing gems found on planet earth. Meet the artists and refreshments served.

  1. Renaissance Centre, 1001 State Street, 6th Floor

Celebrating 20 years of Renaissance Centre and 88 years of history at 1001 State Street. See some of the original blueprints of the building and enjoy photos and memorabilia of this downtown Erie landmark throughout the years. There will also be a feature of the new era of Renaissance Centre.

  1. Something Wonderful, 3709 West Lake Road

Offering driftwood art, copper wire art, handmade jewelry, watercolor and oil paintings. Featuring Kelly Trost with handmade glass bead jewelry, Elizabeth Kelly with driftwood and birch tree designs and Anne Cameron Cutri with oil paintings and painted sticks and stones. Meet the artists and refreshments served.

About the Erie Art Museum
The Erie Art Museum anchors downtown Erie's cultural and economic revitalization, occupying a group of restored mid-19th century commercial buildings and a modern, 'Green,' 10,500 square foot expansion.  The newly expanded Museum marks the first LEED-certified building in the region, soon to be complete with a planted rooftop.

The Museum maintains an ambitious program of changing exhibitions annually, embracing a wide range of subjects, both historical and contemporary and including folk art, contemporary craft, multi-disciplinary installations, community-based work, as well as traditional media.
