Equality PA Endorses Hillary Clinton for President

Harrisburg-With sharp divides between presidential candidates in the historic 2016 election, the stakes couldn’t be higher for LGBT people in Pennsylvania and across the country. Faced with the historic gains made toward equality under the Obama administration, it is crucial that the next president protect and advance the fight for equality across all areas of government. With proposals across the country to roll back hard-won protections, lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) Pennsylvanians need champions fighting for them at the state and federal level. Today, Equality PA is proud to announce its full-fledged support for Hillary Clinton for President of the United States.

"The LGBT community has made tremendous strides in advancing equality and I have been proud to stand side by side with LGBT Americans as an ally in the fight to make sure their rights are recognized, affirmed, and defended,” said Hillary Clinton. “I’m so proud to have the endorsement of Equality Pennsylvania in my campaign because they have been on the front lines of the battle for LGBT equality in Pennsylvania for decades and as President I will continue the work of breaking down the barriers that hold too many Americans back."

“For years, Hillary Clinton has fought for LGBT people-as Senator, as Secretary of State, and as a candidate for President. Equality PA is proud to support her so she can continue to fight for all of us as the next President of the United States,” said Ted Martin, Executive Director of Equality PA. “Among all the candidates, Secretary Clinton has the most comprehensive and compelling plan to achieve full equality for LGBT people in Pennsylvania and across the country. She has called for a comprehensive ban on discrimination against LGBT people at the federal level, a ban on the terrible practice of 'reparative therapy’ for LGBT minors, and a fully-fledged plan to combat HIV/AIDS, including a plan for an AIDS-free generation. She’s fighting for us, so we are proud to be fighting for her to become the next President of the United States.”
