Plaintiffs of Pending Supreme Court Case to be featured in a Program at the Jackson Center

JAMESTOWN, N.Y.May 20, 2015- The Robert H. Jackson Center will host a program titled"A Discussion of Bourke, et al. v. Beshear: A Conversation with Paul Campion & Randell Johnson," plaintiffs in one of the pending U.S. Supreme Court cases on marriage" at 7 p.m. on Saturday June 13th. 

Jamestown native, Paul Campion married Randell Johnson in the state of California in 2008.  Today, they live in Louisville, Kentucky, where they are raising their four children.  Randell is the sole adoptive parent of the couple's three sons and Paul is the sole adoptive parent of their daughter.  In 2012, Paul and Randell joined other same-sex married couples to file federal lawsuits challenging the constitutionality of Kentucky's refusal to recognize their valid out-of-state marriages.  Their consolidated Kentucky case, Bourke, et al. v. Beshear, and cases from Michigan, Ohio and Tennessee were argued together before the U.S. Supreme Court on April 28, 2015.  A decision is expected by late June.

The evening's program will feature an introduction by John Q. Barrett, Professor of Law at St. John's University in New York City and an Elizabeth S. Lenna Fellow at the Robert H. Jackson Center, followed by"A Conversation with Paul Campion and Randell Johnson."  The interview will be conducted by Gregory L. Peterson, co-founder and Board Member of the Robert H. Jackson Center. The program is free and open to the public.
