On Sunday, June 7, from 4 to 6 p.m., the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Erie, 7180 Perry Highway, Erie PA is hosting the 4th annual Kate Buczek Memorial Concert, featuring Irish musician Dáithí Sproule and "Mambo."

Kate Buczek was a jazz music aficionado. She enjoyed taking family and friends with her to New Orleans for its Jazz and Heritage Festivals. After Kate died in 2010, at age 91, memorial gifts from her many friends were designated to fund annual concerts at the Unitarian Universalist church where, for many decades, she was an active member and supporter.

Dáithí Sproule (www.daithisproule.com) is one of Irish music's most respected musicians. A fine singer in English and Irish, he's a member of the internationally renowned Irish band Altan that completed a five-week tour of the U.S. and Canada earlier this year and will be touring Germany and Japan in November. Altan's new release, The Widening Gyre, includes two original compositions by Dáithí and has been in the top five albums of the Billboard world music charts since its release.

Mambo features Julio Quezada on acoustic guitar & Charango; Adriel Caraballos on keyboards; Eddie Ocasio vocals & percussion; Tony Cruz on Bongos & percussion; Dave Rodriguez on Timbales & percussion; and Doug Russell on bass. Their percussion instruments include blocks, claves, conga, cowbell, guiro, maracas, and wind chimes.

The Unitarian Universalist church is located at 7180 Perry Highway (PA Rt 97), about one-half mile north of I-90's exit 27. The June 7th concert is open to the public. Free admission, but donations to the UU Congregation in memory of Kate are encouraged to help replenish her Memorial Concert Fund. Information's at 923-1155.
