In The Life Media Debuts New 'It Gets Better' Video Featuring Voices of Parents of Transgender Youth

New York, March 19, 2012 – In the Life Media today debuted a web-exclusive “It Gets Better” video featuring parents of transgender youth delivering a message of support for other such parents, the first “It Gets Better” video of its kind.  In the video, parents from PFLAG’s support group for families of transgender children share their personal struggles to understand their child’s needs and find support for both themselves and their families.

“Those early days were very difficult,” says Catherine, parent to a transgender child. “I was scared. I felt alone. I felt somehow responsible for having done this to my child.”

Families with transgender children must confront binary perceptions of gender, widespread transphobia and controversial parenting decisions.  But with education and support, these parents are proof that it really does get better.
