The Renaissance City Choirs Continue 25th Anniversary Season With Spring Concert
(Pittsburgh, PA -- March 16, 2010) – The Renaissance City Choirs will perform their 25th anniversary spring concert, The Best of RCC: 25 Years, Friday, April 16th and Saturday, April 17th at 8pm at the Kelly-Strayhorn Theater, 5941 Penn Avenue, Pittsburgh. Tickets are available through the RCC website, www.rccpittsburgh.org.
The concert is a celebration of 25 years of making change through music. There will be special appearances from former artistic directors Larry Marietta, Susan Haugh and Darlene Durrwachter-Rushing to conduct the choirs for selected songs. The concert will feature songs that are listeners’ perennial favorites including When We Sing, Down In the River To Pray and Leonard Bernstein’s Make Our Garden Grow. The chorus has also commissioned a new work by renowned composer Dr. Jeffrey Nytch written especially to celebrate the choirs’ first 25 years. In keeping with the anniversary theme for the concert, the commissioned piece excerpts text from Joe Brainard’s classic memoir, I Remember.
