An amusing spam message

So, I got a bit of spam message purportedly looking to hire someone “residing in the territory of the EU” who is “18 till 60 years old” and has a bank account. Pretty obviously a scam, correct? The punch line is the name that it was supposedly sent by: Teena Swindle!

Now, if you’ll . . . → Read More: An amusing spam message

Everything I really need I already have

I was reminded tonight how very lucky I am. I got some geek stuff done for the newsletter and the copies showed up for folding. At about 6:30, I realized that if I was somewhat quick about it, I could get the dogs’ walk in before heading off to folding. So I got back . . . → Read More: Everything I really need I already have

Puppy Tweets – so very wrong

Sigh. Okay, even a social networking junkie like me thinks that this is a tad silly.

Amusing ad on MySpace

I must admit that in terms of social networking sites, I don’t do much any more with MySpace. I had logged onto there tonight to check something out, and the big splash ad before the login screen was an ad for the new movie, Social Network.

Social Network is about the founding of Facebook, . . . → Read More: Amusing ad on MySpace

The Most Wonderful Time of the Year

We were having our weekly programmers’ meeting this morning, and some folks talked about “the most wonderful time of the year” and about being excited about this coming weekend. My first thought was Pagan Pride Day, of course. (This Saturday, September 11 at 10:30 AM to 6:30/7 PM or so at St. Nick’s Grove, . . . → Read More: The Most Wonderful Time of the Year

Amusing symbol on car

So, I am driving back to work and on a car next to me, I see:

Yup, that would be a Star Trek icthys, with the nacelles forming the fins. I didn’t catch what it was at first, but when I did, I guffawed.

Overheard at work

One of the other programmers at work was talking with an intern. The programmer said something to the effect of “Truth to tell, most things that you will be doing are probably going to be pretty boring.” I guffawed and remarked that was undoubtedly why X is not writing any motivational literature.

Moved to WordPress

I have been doing a fair amount of computer geek stuff of late. I noticed that the new WordPress 3.0 is out, so I thought I would give it a whirl. I believe that I have the guts pretty much okay.

Gay Geekery

I am doing my usual tinkering with the Erie Gay News web site. I had added code/tables for advertisers, which led to putting in advertisers and page counts for each issue, back to the very first in January 1993. Some of the earlier issues don’t show many advertisers, since I was linking ads to . . . → Read More: Gay Geekery

A nerd, but apparently of a different sort

I saw a video on YouTube of someone playing the computer game Tetris and doing quite well. The music sound of familiar, and I realized that it was Korobushka, a Russian folk song that goes with a dance that I learned in the SCA years ago.

So, everyone else in the West apparently hears . . . → Read More: A nerd, but apparently of a different sort
