An oddly happy sound

I was being rather neurotic about the E-collar that Heracles has to wear to prevent him from scratching or irritating his ear. When he came home yesterday, he didn’t drink or eat that I could see, but he was also probably groggy from the surgery. I fretted that he wouldn’t be able to get food or water when he wanted, and it made me nervous about being out of the house.

So, this morning, I saw Hecate sitting in the living room and I heard the sound of drinking from their water bowl. So, yay! He can drink after all. Eating seems also to be okay.

Last night, I was putting stuff away, and they both began their “jumping  around because daddy is taking us for a walk!” thing, which also felt encouraging. I was rather tired, but seeing as how they were both up for it, we walked our normal route through Frontier Park.

The E in E-collar is for Elizabethan, I found out. Recalling my days in the Society for Creative Anachronism, I wondered if I should go with adding a a doublet and pansied slops before realizing that A) Dogs do not particularly like Elizabethan garb (or any garb) and B) especially not in July.
