I took yesterday off to go to Erie Public Affairs Institute: Different Perspectives—Common Interests that was put on by the Nonprofit Partnership. About 370 people attended from a wide variety of local non-profits, as well as legislators and representatives from philanthropy-based organizations. It was all about cooperation and working together. I was very much impressed with how smoothly things went.
I hung out for a good portion of the day with my friend Susan Woodland, from NW PA NOW. When they were serving lunch (chef’s salad), she was away from her seat and when the server from the hotel was coming to the table, they asked if the missing person was male or female. (They might have been trying to serve women before men.) When she walked back, we told Susan and she cackled and asked if it mattered? I said that maybe I would prefer a salad with more butch lettuce, but more femme tomatoes. We giggled.
The presentations and classes all went very well. Kudos to Gary and everyone who made this important event happen!
