I went to the wedding of 2 friends yesterday. They happen to be a straight couple, but I never think of them as that. (I know - weird. However, they don't tend to think of themselves as a straight couple other.)
I got there kind of early, and just the groom's family was there. When I arrived, they were very friendly and polite. I smiled inwardly, as I recall that the bride had referred to her mother-in-law to be (affectionately) as a "wolverine in Capri pants." I do so love a well-turned phrase. So, running through the back of my mind was the overwhelming thought to NOT verbalize this.
The wedding ceremony itself was very quick. At one point, the groom observed that there were probably more gay people than straight at the wedding. And a lesbian mom, who was there with her partner and their adorable baby boy, performed the ceremony. So, gays threaten straight marriages??? Honey, who do you think was in the kitchen and who helped officiate? Equality threatens no one.
Wishing the happy couple many years of wedded bliss! Love is love!
