The band on my watch had broken, and I stopped by K-Mart today to get a new one. (I am exceedingly not fashion conscious - a plain $25 digital watch is just fine.)
When I got there, the saleswoman was helping an elderly woman with a watch she had gotten previously that part of the band had popped off.
Then a guy in his 20's/30's came in and got huffy that he was waiting. He was being needlessly rude and making snide remarks about this is why their sales were down and kvetching about customer service, and generally acting like a prick. He mentioned wanting to buy a 9.99 watch and wanted the saleswoman to interrupt what she was doing to wait on him. Maybe that would have been a better course of action, but the guy was being a MAJOR asshole about it.
The saleswoman did go over to wait on Mr. I Am Entitled to Everything When I Want It. I had mouthed the word "Rude" to the elderly woman, and then realized that maybe I could take a whack at the watch. (You know, better to light a candle than curse the darkness - that kind of thing.) So, I went over and asked if she would be okay if I took a look at it. I did some playing around and got the band to pop back in place.
I have had some recent stress from some folks with a gargantuan sense of entitlement, and it truly pisses me off when folks just assume that they are the center of the universe. So, this was my odd symbolic revenge. It freed up the saleswoman and left me with a nice warm fuzzy feeling.
