Considering web site redesign

Hmm. I am considering changing the layout/template for the Erie Gay News site. I think I would like to keep the 3 column layout with the main content in the center. I already have most of the sidebar stuff in include files, so that should be easy to migrate. I also want to keep the navigation on top, as well as the banner ad. Since I maintain the menu choices in a database, I wrote an include file to hold it (which might have to be modified, but the idea is there.)

So, any suggestions? I am trying for something that is neither too busy nor too dull, and that are relatively manageable in size. I tried looking at some templates, but I have a really poor sense of what would look best.

I am working in Dreamweaver with a home made content management system. I am sure that whatever I get I will need to do some fiddling with. Unfortunately, aesthetic stuff is NOT my strong suit.
