Shimmy for a Cure

I had a very good time at Shimmy for a Cure. Quite a number of bellydancers put on a benefit performance for the John Kanzius Cancer Research Foundation. They were mostly local/regional performers, but there was a troupe from Toronto (which included a male dancer) and a performer from California who was fantastic.

Erie Bloggers bonus session was fun

We had a very nice get together last night at Panera’s Yorktown as Eden was back in town since they had sold their house (which must be very nice not to have to worry about any more, for them.) Although this was technically a bonus session, it was actually bigger than the rather small . . . → Read More: Erie Bloggers bonus session was fun

Now that I have this pretty much down to a routine, Erie Gay News is now running a giveaway for a $50 gift certificate from Body Language from now through June 20. They sell adult and pride stuff. The gift certificate can be used either at their web site or online.

Grandma and family stuff

I had a nice chat with my mom today. My grandmother’s husband hasn’t been doing so well, and he has been in the hospital. It is now looking like they will be moving into an assisted care facility within the next month or so. They are going to have to downsize quite a fair . . . → Read More: Grandma and family stuff

Blogcabin California » Can An Initiative ABOLISH Constitutional Rights?

Not a lawyer, but this sounds very interesting indeed. Because of the way that the predominantly Republican-appointed California Supreme Court judges wrote the . . . → Read More: Blogcabin California » Can An Initiative ABOLISH Constitutional Rights?

Dunkin’ Donuts yanks Rachael Ray ad – The Boston Globe

Wow! What a bunch of whack jobs, with Michelle Malkin apparently leading the pack.

So the thinking apparently goes paisley scarf = looks like scarf worn by Arab men = all Arabs are terrorists = yay for jihad.

Does anyone with even half their marbles think that Dunkin’ Donuts and Rachael Ray are trying . . . → Read More: Dunkin’ Donuts yanks Rachael Ray ad – The Boston Globe

Poll: Majority of Calif. Backs Gay Marriage

Hmm, I know that this situation is likely to be very volatile as we get closer, but I consider this to be a very good sign! I firmly believe that denying marriage equality for same sex couples equality will eventually be seen to be the same sort of injustice as denying marriage equality . . . → Read More: Poll: Majority of Calif. Jenna Bush tells Ellen She Can Use the Ranch for Her Same-Sex Wedding

Why am I foreseeing a very awkward scene between Jenna and her dad? 10 bucks says Laura probably swallowed a fist full of Xanax after the show.

Actually, I am guessing that the wedding couldn’t be performed there, but maybe they could have the reception. Maybe they could invite Mary Cheney and her partner, . . . → Read More: Jenna Bush tells Ellen She Can Use the Ranch for Her Same-Sex Wedding

Redneck dating site

Because of being the co-editor for Erie Gay News, I tend to get a fair number of emails and promotional materials.

Earlier today, I got an email about a site entitled Redneck and Single, and I first thought I got it as a generic media thing.

Then I looked at the sender, and it . . . → Read More: Redneck dating site
