We converted a food bank at work from the old software to the newer software. We have hardly anyone running the old stuff. (Might be 1 or 2 left.) It is a fairly large food bank. I wasn't sure about bringing files back to our site versus running the conversion on their server. I figured if it was on their server, I could check it at home, at work, whatever.
What I wasn't aware of was that they had a somewhat underpowered server, so I started a purge of their copied data on Thursday that took almost 24 hours. I started the next few phases, some of which ran quite long. I went into work late Sunday night, and the final step was still chugging along. Sigh.
Sunday afternoon, I took a look at a PC for the family that Ken is staying with that was fairly screwed up. They turned out to have quite a few viruses, and I was able to get rid of everything except alrsv.dll, which apparently is part of the Trojan.Vundo virus. I downloaded the removal tool from Symantec, but it didn't seem to think it was on there. Grr.
My brother called me earlier tonight with a problem with his new PC. Basically, he can't find the wireless network, and I wonder if it recognizes the card. It is running Vista, so I wonder what the deal is. I am kind of booked up, so I suggested he might want to contact the co-worker who put the PC together for him.
