Wow. What a horrible, horrible excuse for a human being. It sounds like she realizes she got caught being a bigot in public. Agreed that she is perfectly free to say what she wants, but she should also be aware that as a legislator, she should expect to be held responsible for it. (One wonders how she would have reacted if someone had said the same sorts of things about Republicans or Christians.)
I also find it objectionable that she refers to Islam (note, not limiting it to the more radical adherents or just Islamic terrorists) as being a threat. I know a few people who happen to be Muslims who are decent and wonderful. I am sure that the vast majorities of Muslims in this country are good and decent citizens, just like Catholics, Baptists, Atheists and Pagans. Yes, terrorists of ANY particular religious orientation are vile, but Muslims are no more responsible for all Islamic terrorists than Catholics are all responsible for the Spanish Inquisition.

Who's indoctrinating my 2 yr old? Or my 4 yr old? I'm confused. I thought that was my job. You know, when "Project Runway" has the guy-guy Levis ad, Zoe says, "Who's that?" and I say "that's that guy's boyfriend" and she just says, Oh. Okay." How dare the "government schools" try to do that!
Give me a break, get over it! You heard that, shame on you, blah blah blah.
The woman is saying that it is hurtful to kids for someone to persuade their sexual orientation.
The woman is saying that people who engage in homosexual lifestyle are more likely to commit suicide, suffer from depression and die early. THIS IS TRUE! LOOK IT UP!
There are unbiased statistics to substantiate this claim.
I have had friends that were gay.
I have been in the gay community.
I have seen what they deal with. They have a hard time.
You try to make yourselves a minority.
You try to equal it out to racial prejudiced.
It is not the same thing.
You know what?
If you believe that your lifestyle is right, why do you care what someone in politics has to say?
It is everyone else that is wrong not you!
God's word does say that it is wrong.
It is not anyones fault that HE said that!
Take it up with GOD, your creator!
And if you don't believe HIM, then what is the big fuss?
This is a christian perspective, however, most non christian people realize that it is very hurtful to both the human psyche and our sense of balance as a whole.
Take it all the way to the end. If society were dominated by homosexuals, society would die off. No children would be produced.
Any real man or woman of God will admit to you that while they don't agree with the sin - yes it is sin, (just like stealing and lying and all the other stuff), They love the person with the problem.
It is not against people, it is against what that lifestyle causes.
Jesus can change all of this, and if you don't believe He is real then there is no reason for you to argue with the woman who stated it now is there? Hmmmmmm
First off, Lisa. You are aware that a sentence is not synonymous with a paragraph, yes? Also, very cowardly of you to just sign your name with no email address.
So, a few salient points:
YES, it makes a huge difference that a public figure with the power to make laws affecting many people claims that a particular group is a threat to civilization. Are you under the impression that there is a group in existence that would NOT find that to be hateful and mean-spirited. Of course, I am aware that I am a valid human being. Some jerk labeling me as Sally Kerns did doesn't damage me, but not everyone is the same. How many people have been damaged by attitudes that Sally has spewed.
I am guessing that you are referring to the incredibly poorly designed and invalid data that anti-gay "researchers" have fabricated. I believe that Sally made some sort of claim that the average life expectancy for gay men is 39. Since I turn 45 this year, I should be rather an anomaly, and I shouldn't know many gay men older than me. My great uncle died last year in his 80's and his partner, who is about the same age, is still around.
You have had friends that were gay? Apparently they had incredibly low self esteem.
You seem to think that the only reason that people are straight is because they are too lazy/dumb to be anything else. The argument that if society were dominated by gay folks would mean the end of humanity is ridiculous; if every woman had 6 children, the earth would be hugely overpopulated and great suffering would result. However, that certainly doesn't mean that some women can't have large families. Furthermore, people don't become gay simply because they know someone is gay or fail to denigrate gay people.
Oh yeah, I am very comfortable with how God feels about sexual orientation. She is definitely fine with it. (Has it occurred to you that pushing a particular interpretation of what some Christians think their tradition says doesn't carry any weight with someone who is Pagan? Did you look up at the top of the page when you were writing your comment?)
