Further thoughts on web site/event stuff

First off, big thanks to Mike from Erie Blogs who left a comment about creating an auto-discovery tag for RSS feed(s.)  I made some minor changes to the Erie Gay News site. I moved some of the header stuff into an include file, and put the auto-discovery tag in there. In that way, if . . . → Read More: Further thoughts on web site/event stuff

He Has Risen! » THE NO SIN ZONE

Have I mentioned how much I adore Betty Bowers? Hat tip to her blog for this amusing entry.

Yup, if you are going to have a light switch, it would REALLY be a good idea not not have the switch positioned at crotch level if a guy was depicted. Particularly if it was Jesus. . . . → Read More: He Has Risen! » THE NO SIN ZONE

RSS Feed for GoErie.Com

Hmm, when we had the readers panel at the Erie Times News, I asked about whether the web site has an RSS feed. The tech person there from CyberInk said that it was right on the front page on the site.

Hmm, okay, I don’t know how many people use RSS feeds . . . → Read More: RSS Feed for GoErie.Com

Erie Times News reader panel

I was one of 10 people who were invited to participate in a readers panel at the Erie Times News today. There was a fairly varied array of folks as they were trying to get a broad sample. There were maybe 20 or so staff members from the Times News attending.

Matt Sanchez is a certifiable jerk

Groan! Matt Sanchez. former Marine and gay porn star (under the stage names of Rod Majors and Pierre LeBranche), is now a conservative commentator. Check out the YouTube video made of a radio broadcast with some truly tasteless (and flamingly hypocritical) commentary he made about Heath Ledger’s death.

Wow. First of all, Heath . . . → Read More: Matt Sanchez is a certifiable jerk

Photo gallery switched

I had been meaning to do this for a while. I had some photos at the Erie Gay News site in galleries on Flickr, and some in a Movable Type blog. I can do a lot more with Flickr, and so I pretty much have everything there now. Whee!

Boys Next Door was wonderful

I got some stuff done last night, and decided to catch The Boys Next Door at Directors Circle Theatre last night. It’s basically about 4 mentally challenged guys living in an apartment and the guy who takes care of them. It was lighter in tone in the first act, but there were still quite . . . → Read More: Boys Next Door was wonderful

A slightly belated 12th birthday gift

I just had a very nice chat with my brother-in-law about a mutual friend who is in the Society for Creative Anachronism. Otfrid got a Writ that he would be receiving a Pelican (Peerage award for service) at Ice Dragon (a very large event in Buffalo NY, also called Barony of the Rhydderich Hael.) . . . → Read More: A slightly belated 12th birthday gift

Snow shoveling and King Arthur

I caught part of an exchange between the president of the company where I work and another programmer. The president was talking about shoveling snow and that the shovel got stuck in a drift and he was having a hard time pulling it out. He said that he felt like that king who pulled . . . → Read More: Snow shoveling and King Arthur

John Gibson being a jerk

Apparently, John Gibson wants to give noted asshat Rev. Phelps a run for his money for being an insensitive jerk. Call me overly picky, but maybe making snide comments about someone who died that day where the circumstances weren’t clear yet is a tad callous. (Just like icebergs are a mite chilly.)
