Dumbledore outed as gay

Harry Potter author JK Rowling has revealed that one of her characters, Hogwarts school headmaster Albus Dumbledore, is gay.

Guilty confession: I have only seen the first 4 movies, and haven't read any of the books yet. But props to JK Rowling, and I am guessing that the religious right's collective head is exploding. Oh well, given that the series involved magic and etc, they were probably not too fond of it to begin with.

There are some people who are saying that Rowling's remark suggests that gay people can't find true love. I think that what she meant was that the character had been in love with someone who didn't return his affection, and who was also a not-so-great person, and therefore he sort of gave up on romantic relationships.

Interesting discussion about this topic in the comments here.
