It was a fairly busy weekend for me. Deb and I finished up the newsletter, which has been uploaded to Kinko's for printing. I took care of some geek stuff on Friday, and then crashed for a bit.
On Saturday, I went with John and Paula to the wedding of our friend Shari to Mike. John and Paula performed the ceremony. They have done about 40 weddings, including legally recognized weddings, as well as commitment ceremonies. The first one that they ever did was for me and my ex. It was a very simple and lovely ceremony. The groom's family is of Polish descent, so they had some sections in Polish, and also a ritual involving bread, wine and salt. It was lovely. They had great food afterwards, which figures as Shari works as a cook. I took some photos there, and also some photos at Kinzua Dam on the the way back.
Later that night, I went dancing at Trance with my friend Paul. The crowd was a tad light, but that meant that we had room on the dance floor. The music was fairly good. It's always nice having a slow dance at the end. Paul and I are also talking about going to see Die Mommie Die at Directors Circle Theatre during the run, maybe July 6. I might send that as a suggested activity to the Menspace list.
Today has been a whirlwind of activity with catching up on the domestic chores, finishing the newsletter (still have to do the export and post to web site stuff. Sigh!), and also going to the benefit at Trance for Buddy Dobson. I got there at the end of the show, but I did feel good about making it. Buddy had a heart attack a few months ago, so this was to help him out with his medical costs. He's doing okay now, it seems. He was the last performer. He got very emotional and choked up at the end when he talked to the attendees/his friends.
