Not registering to vote doesn't mean that you won't get jury duty!

This seems to be a very common misconception. I overheard a co-worker state that he didn't think that he would get jury duty, as he didn't believe that he was registered to vote. I popped over to his cubicle and informed him that they pull folks for jury duty from drivers registration, phone books and etc. Therefore, if you have a car, you can be called up for jury duty. I think many folks use that as an excuse to not participate in voting. Shame! The co-worker was just uninformed though, I think. I should get bonus karma points as I believe that he is probably Republican. But doing the right thing was more important.
