There are occasional disadvantages to being a somewhat visible media outlet. I get occasional spam email from folks who are trying to get whatever they have out to any and all publications. (Needless to say, Erie Gay News doesn't really have much of a need for articles about bass fishing.)
So, today I got an op-ed submission about how Easter is apparently being attacked. Well, I guess playing the victim card isn't limited to Christmas any more.
The email began with:
Dear Op Ed Editor-Attacks on religion--and Christianity in particular--are coming at a furious pace, so it must be Holy Week.
Each year, the liberal media and the entertainment industry sprinkle the Lenten season with an unholy watering of doubt, historic revisionism and blasphemous depictions of Jesus. This year, they are outdoing themselves. In the 656-word op-ed below, Brian Fitzpatrick, senior editor of MRCs Culture and Media Institute, shines a light on the Easter hit parade, which began right after Ash Wednesday and is slated to continue through Easter Sunday. Out of the broom closet Pagan here.By the way, check the etymology of the word Easter, which refers to the goddess Ostara, a fertility goddess whose symbols are rabbits and eggs. I am always amused when Christians whine about "their" holiday traditions. And we won't even get into the parallels between Jesus and Mithra, who came first. ;)

I am going out on a limb here, but I guess that they didn't like the episode of South Park last night with the DaVinci Code reworking about the origin of Easter. :) Me, I guffawed at several points. And I was amused to hear "Here comes Peter Cottontail" in Latin.
