This past weekend was pretty good, even if I am now pretty much wiped out. Drenched Fur was a lot of fun, and the turnout was very good. I ended up being sort of the tour leader for though winery tour on Saturday, because almost all of the other committee members went to Splash Lagoon. I basically one of the tour because I had done the water park the previous two years, and I thought I would try something different. We went to Mazza Winery, Arrowhead Winery, Noble Winery, and Johnson Estates.
When we were the first winery, the tour guide said that it was traditional for the bus driver and the tour leader to get a free bottle of wine. The big joke is that, of course, I don't drink at all. Then I figured I would probably just take it, and just give it to somebody else as a gift or something like that. When we went to the second winery, after stopping off for lunch, I ended up trying to look specifically for something that wasn't alcohol. One of the guys found a scented candle that was apparently supposed to smell like walnuts or something like that. The name printed on the label for the scent was (I kid you not!) "Smell My Nuts." We were all very much amused by that. :-)
The woman at the fourth stop was very animated and a real pistol. All of the guys thought she was an absolute hoot. She deftly knew how to play up to her audience. The wine that they had their had a name that translated from German as "Little love drops." That also got more than a few snickers.
The tour ended slightly earlier than expected, which was great so I was able to get a brief nap in. The buffet dinner was absolutely first-class, and didn't taste like your standard buffet. I ended up working the door while the comedian was performing, but that was okay since I could mostly hear him. Since I really wanted to dance later, I kind of figured if I put in a lot of volunteer time for the comedian say, I would get free time for dancing. I was out on the floor for a very large portion of the evening. It was great!
The after party was also fun. I chatted with some folks, and generally had a good time. We are supposed to be having a wrapup meeting tomorrow to go over that day.
I already put in to take Monday off from work, so I can get caught up, and also basically recuperate.
