I was calling a customer whilst at work and the receptionist ask, "Are you calling to speak to somebody?" I thought of several possible responses (but didn't use any of them, obviously.)
- Nope, I don't converse with Earth humans!
- What? I should be doing mime??? Let me get my black leotard and white pancake makeup. Hold the line please!
- Oh God, yes! Just someone, anyone!!! I am SOOOOO lonely! Will you marry me? Will anyone there marry me??? I don't care who. PLEASE!!!!
- By answering this question, I have therefore spoken with someone, haven't I??
- Well, speaking with somebody is rather the main point of using a telephone, isn't it?
