The reason for the season

Heh. I recall when this first aired. Funny!

I was also in the chat room when a Catholic guy said something about remembering "the reason for the season." I shot back with "Of course! Mithras' birthday! December 25." He was NOT amused. However, as the article indicates, the "divine figure born on December 25 to a virgin" thing was observed quite some time before the Christians basically borrowed elements from other faith traditions. It's perfectly fine that it has its own unique meaning for them, just that some of the elements didn't technically originate within that tradition.
