Pride Picnic is 1 week earlier next year

Wow. So I made a note to myself to call to register the Rotary Pavilion for June 9, 2007 today. This is the first day that we could reserve. (Basically, it's 11 months before the date of the event that one can reserve the site.) The registration center opens at 7 AM. I called at 7 AM, but someone already had reserved it for that date! (Apparently the second Saturday in June is REALLY popular.)

I was sort of panicking, but it turns out that the first Saturday of next year was still open, so I jumped on that. The picnic will be a week earlier, which means that we will be the Saturday after Memorial Day, but at least it will be done. We are also thinking of a Gay Day at Waldameer the day after the picnic.

I feel annoyed that we didn't get the date we wanted, but somewhat relieved that it is reserved, and that we are not opposite the other events. (The 3rd Saturday tends to be Cleveland and Pittsburgh's Pride and also Gay Day at Cedar Point on Father's Day) and Toronto has theirs usually the last Saturday in June. Most people don't think of it this way, but the most important part of scheduling stuff is knowing what to miss.
