I hope I am not screwing this up. My friend Paula had asked before about seeing Brokeback Mountain this Sunday at Tinseltown for the first matinee (which will be 1 PM), and maybe go out to eat for a bite afterwards. Some other folks were talking about seeing it at Menspace, and we thought it would be nice to see if we could have a sort of GLBT and supporter outing that was open to everyone. So I emailed the lists and sent them the link where to buy tickets and suggested that we go to the Golden Corral across the street afterwards. (Deb came up with that, and Paula caught the theme connection between the movie about cowboys and the name of the restaurant.)
So, I sent it out, and we have already got a few responses. I am curious as to whether we will be swarming by or what. Kind of cool if there is a good turnout. (And yes, I said that women and friendly straight people were certainly welcome as well.)
I also spoke with Gerry Weiss from the Erie Times News for an article he is doing on Friday about the movie coming to the area. It was slightly odd as he said a few times that he hadn't seen the movie yet, so I was trying to talk about it, without giving away and major points. I have talked with Gerry for a few articles before and he's a pretty good guy. So, looking forward to reading the story.
Anywho, if you find yourself wanting to catch a deeply moving film with a passel of GLBT folks and have dinner afterwards, come on along!
I bet the food & service are better at Longhorn (insert your own theme joke here). ;)
Hmm, I forgot about that. I was thinking Golden Corral might be cheaper, and I knew that some folks might be on a tight budget. Maybe some will go to one place and some the other. I have NO IDEA how this will work out.
And you should have heard the bad puns I was sending to Paula yesterday. ("Oklahomo" was not the worst of it.)
