Pittsburgh Boat Cruise and this weekend

I was semi-indolent on Saturday. I did finally get out to see the closing night performance of Rocky Horror in Concert at the Roadhouse Theatre. I knew a few folks from the production, and it was wonderful. A few friends came, but they were unfamiliar with it (As opposed to yours truly, who has . . . → Read More: Pittsburgh Boat Cruise and this weekend

Grandma and Mac’s wedding

Mac and Grandma Originally uploaded by Michael Mahler.

Yesterday went fairly well. I got a fair amount of things accomplished at work.

My grandma, Margaret Laramie, married Emmett Macintosh (“Mac”) at St. Mark’s Church. Since Mac is Prebyterian, they had an interfaith ceremony. Mac’s son and some of his lreatives were there. On . . . → Read More: Grandma and Mac’s wedding

To boldly go out of the closet!

Okay, most of you have read this already, but George Takei, the actor noted most for playing Ensign Hikaru Sulu on the original Star Trek series, has come out. Actually, several folks emailed me the link, some were sort of surprised. My friend Amy, whom I met through the SCA, told me about the . . . → Read More: To boldly go out of the closet!

Weird half-remembered dream

I was really tired yesterday and laid down for a nap around 8:30. I finally woke up around 12:40 or so, walked the dogs and did some minor geek stuff. So, I vaguely recall a dream I had before I woke up. I was on upper Peach Street and my sister was there as . . . → Read More: Weird half-remembered dream

Rosa Parks passing

Sorry to hear about Rosa Parks, aka Mother of the Civil Rights Movement passing on. On the other hand, how wonderful to have led such an important and well-lived life! The first steps towards fighting for justice are incredibly important. Kudos to Ms. Parks for standing her ground and doing something important.

Conversation with a receptionist

Around lunch, the receptionist and another coarser asked me if I wanted some leftover pizza. As I have probably never turned down free food in my life, I said sure! We were chatting for a bit, and the receptionist (Michelle) said that a friend of hers had recommend that they go dancing at Trance. . . . → Read More: Conversation with a receptionist

Interesting coincidence

A sort of interesting coincidence happened in the wake of the Pride March/Rally. After the event last Saturday, I decided to go out for Chinese at one of the few non-buffet restaurants in the city. As I was sitting there, I heard a couple get up and greet another couple on the way out . . . → Read More: Interesting coincidence

Interesting snack choice

We have a break/lunch room here at work, and fairly frequently someone will leave some food or snack out on the table or something to buy. A few days ago, someone left a jar of dry roasted peanuts.(Nummy!) I just walked back and there was a box of rock salt sitting in the table. . . . → Read More: Interesting snack choice

Gay History talk and Chris and John Road Show

The Pride March/Rally went fairly well on Saturday. I am waiting to get an article write up from the organizer Dan, so I will write more about it later. Apparently, the softball game didn’t happen. Sigh. The Chris and John Road Show had their premiere episode party last night in Toronto. These are the . . . → Read More: Gay History talk and Chris and John Road Show
