German Festival and dancing

A fun weekend. Saturday James and I went to the German Heritage Festival. We’ve been dating for about 2 months, and his family is originally from Germany. (Mannheim/Menzingen mostly.) There was a German band called Die Lustigen Musikannten. As we walked by the tent, they were about to play something by Strauss, so I brought out the line from the Addams Family movie: “Morticia, how long has it been since we last waltzed?” “Gomez, darling – HOURS!” So we danced a fair amount. One woman saw us and said that she figured that we were the people to ask, and inquired about when the Pride Festival was. I told her about it being September 12-14 and gave her a card. I bumped into at least 1 co-worker and a client while there, and we also had a nice brief chat with County Councilmember Joy Greco.
The only bump about dancing together was some blond woman who pulled us aside out of the tent towards the end to tell us that she had been a lesbian “for 13 years” (well, apparently, just not a very good one) and that we were “breaking the heart of the God who made us.” I calmly and simply told her that we felt that we were as the Divine had created us. She then said something about God and “He”, so I figured that if she was pissy about the Gay thing, what the heck, and referred to God as She. She said He again, and I corrected again. (You invade someone’s space and tell them how to live their live, you pay the consequences!) A nice presumably straight male said to James that it was good that we were so out. So, on the whole. a pretty good day. John and Paula were there. I took some photos, mostly of animals at the petting zoo they had. An album with photos is here.
